Travelling by exclusively chartered railcar from Unanderra up the Illawarra Escarpment to Ranelagh House, a stately mansion situated near Robertson, where a sumptuous three course Christmas themed lunch will be served in the dining room. In the mid afternoon we return by coach to either Unanderra or Thirroul.
The tour commences from Unanderra railway station at 10.50am. Insights Tours will be on the platform to greet you prior to the arrival of the railmotors.
The train commences its spectacular climb of the Illawarra Escarpment immediately upon departure from Unanderra and the views of southern Wollongong become more expansive as the train climbs into the pristine coastal rainforest of the escarpment.
At Summit Tank, there is a magnificently situated lookout, a short stroll from the tiny platform, we then continue on to Ranelagh House where we alight at its private station. After a short stroll through the gardens to the house, you will be welcomed with a sherry prior to the serving of a sumptuous three course Christmas themed dinner in the private dining room.
Around 3pm we board our chartered coach for the descent of Macquarie Pass enroute to Unanderra and Thirroul.
Ample parking is available at Unanderra station or you may choose to connect with the Cityrail train enroute from Sydney, which arrives at Unanderra at 10.36am (fare not included)

The cost of this tour is $80
The cost includes:
1. all transportation
2. morning tea
3. pre lunch sherry
4. three course Christmas themed lunch at Ranelagh House
5. services of Insights Tours throughout
6. all taxes and gratuities
The additional costs are: drinks and items of a personal nature.
To make a booking: Please complete the booking form and return to Insights Tours with payment of $80 per person.
Cancellations after Friday 2nd May, 2008: The cancellation fee will be 100 % of the fare.
Railmotors: Insights Tours has chartered two CPH heritage railmotors from Paterson Railmotor Society. The railmotors are 1920’s vintage and have total seating for 90 however the tour will be limited to 45 passengers to ensure comfortable and spacious travelling. There is a flushing toilet in each railmotor. The railmotors are not airconditioned and have opening windows.
Coach: Insights Tours will be engaging a 46 seat coach which is airconditioned, toilet equipped and has well spaced seating.
This tour is for a maximum of 45 passengers.
